In the fifth season premier of Happy Days, Fonzie actually jumps a shark while on water skis. For many people, this episode marked the exact moment that Happy Days began its decline, and the phrase “jump the shark” was born. In modern television, there are many shows that continued to air well past their primes.

The Cosby Show was a huge hit for six seasons. As the children grew older and moved out of the house, some of the interesting storylines were lost. NBC decided to add Olivia, a precocious youngster who immediately became the prevailing theme of most episodes.

Felicity was the first big hit for the WB network. The series was a coming of age story about a young girl who learns lessons along the way. Following a particularly nasty breakup, Felicity chopped off her beautiful, curly hair. Fans changed the channel soon afterward.

The family on Rosanne always had their share of problems, and most of them had to do with their lower-class financial standing. In the ninth season, the family won the lottery. The show then turned into a character study of previously good people turned undeniably rotten.

Anyone with television through http://www.cable-tv.com/Cable-Packages/ and access to the major networks might remember a show called Awake. As with most television programs that get the axe too early, Awake suffered from an issue of being too ambitious for its own good.

Starring renowned English actor Jason Isaacs, Awake spun a charming, tragic and metaphysical tale about a man who could perceive two separate realities simultaneously. In one reality (red) his wife was alive, but his son was dead. In the other reality (green) his wife was dead and his son was alive. This fracturing of reality happens shortly after a car accident that permanently damages Michael Britten (Jason Isaacs) to the point where he is randomly thrust between these two worlds – never quite having his cake and eating it too.

Unfortunately, Awake didn’t last past the initial season, but there were plenty of clues to suggest what was really going on. Probably the most telling clue occurred in the very first episode.

In order to keep track of what reality he is in, Michael wears colored wristbands that correspond to the reality. He wears red for his wife’s world and green for his son’s. At one point, Michael awakens and can’t find either wristband. Not only that but he calls out for both his wife and son and no one answers. It doesn’t take a Sherlock-level of intellect to piece together what this really meant.

However, this is all conjecture and we may never know what really was going on in Awake. Not unless the show finds life in some other form.

Perhaps, in another reality, Awake continues to enjoy success.

One of television’s best Sci-Fi shows for your inner geek is Star Blazers. This American adaptation of the Japanese Space Battleship Yamato anime dealt with more serious themes than many shows of its time. There have even been American comic adaptations made of the show. Though some younger fans might have forgotten about the adaptation, the Sci-Fi channel didn’t. They picked up the show in the modern era, and the show is also shown on an Internet network.

When Star Blazers came to the United States, few people knew what anime was.The full explanation can be found at http://www.aintitcool.com/node/53697 However, the adventures of Captain Avatar and Mark Venture helped to change the way that western viewers saw animation as a genre. The show featured serious science fiction material based around the resurrection of the actual Battleship Yamato. Eventually, she became a spaceship that was ready to tackle the long journey to the planet Iscandar. While edits were made to the original source material to fit the broadcast standards and practices of that era, there were far fewer edits than shows like Science Ninja Team Gatchaman.

Owing to this fact, the show holds up to the test of time and still proves interesting to science fiction fans to this day. Matsumoto Leiji was involved in the production of the series, and he has his own devout following among American fans of animated television dramas.

The best time slots for television can be divided by who is at home watching television. The morning hours belong to many women who stay at home and keep their children, or those who choose to take care of their family. There are talk shows on from about seven in the morning to ten, and then there are shows that teach viewers how to cook, or make things at home. The lunch hour is great to catch up on the news that has happened so far during the day. People who are at work and have a spare moment can watch a news show on almost any television channel. After the lunch rush ends, the cartoon-filled afternoon begins. Children who are not in school have several options when it comes to what cartoons they want to watch. Many of the cartoons that are shown during the day are educational. One of the popular time slots for the evening hours is seven to eight. This is when the family is winding down for the night, and many of the family shows come on television. There are also family game shows on at this time. Saturday mornings are still famous for cartoons, and Sunday mornings focus more on worship services or political shows.
